About Mrs Schneider

I teach music at St Teresa’s and Poplar Primary in the London Borough of Merton. I am interested in using blogging to teach music. I love twitter, reading, radio 4 and I am a HUGE fan of The Archers

Learning to play the recorder!

Hello year 4,

Hope you all had a great Easter. Just wanted to let you know that we are going to be learning the recorder this half term. I will need you to bring a chair into the music room on your way out to play on the day of your lesson. Would be great if you could remember to do this as it would mean we could start our lesson straight after play. At the end of the lesson you will need to take your chairs back to class with you.

I have got a recorder for each of you that will stay in school. Can I ask you to let me know if you have your own recorder at home that you can practise with?

Just to get you in the mood have a look at some of these resources.

Penatonic scales

Would you like to take a look at some work I have been doing at a different school? I have been teaching some year 3 children all about pentatonic scales. They have used these scales to create some lovely music to accompany the book, “The Magic Paintbrush” by Julia Donaldon, illustrated by Joel Stewart and published by Macmillian.
